President of the Republic of Haiti Jovenel Moïse has been assassinated in his home.

News broke Thursday morning after a night of chaos in Port-au-Prince where word of the slaying of sitting Haitian President Moïse prompted the local residence to surround the nation’s capital.
Reports indicate that gun shots were heard in the President’s home around 3AM. Capital police and several civilians reported sightings of spanish individuals fleeing the premises.
According to the Haitian authorities, there are a total of 28 suspects, 20 of which being captured and 8 of which being pursued as of this date.
The motive of the actors involved or the full extent of their support is unclear.

According to the Haitian constitution acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph who is second in command is next in line to occupy the nation’s highest office.
The First Lady Martine Marie Etienne Joseph who is in critical condition is currently recovering in a Miami hospital.
“I love my husband Jovenel. ” she stated , “We fought together for more than 25 years. During all these years, love radiated within the home. But suddenly, the mercenaries came and pelted my husband with bullets.”
“You have to be a notorious criminal without guts to assassinate a president like Jovenel Moise with impunity without giving him the chance to speak,”
